She and Peter enjoyed travel and the open road, and Marcella was always ready with a story about the cross-country journey they undertook in their Volkswagen Beetle. Later on, they established a taxi business in Uxbridge which they operated for many years. She enjoyed her time spent here, making lifelong friends from the experience.

Marcella loved nature, animals, country life and sweets favourites being Brandy Beans, Black Forest Cake and most and dessert. She was also an inveterate story teller, had an incredible memory and regaled everyone with fascinating accounts of her life in Austria before, during and after World War II.
She is survived by her sister Hildegard, who resides in Austria and many wonderful friends both here and abroad. As per her wishes, she was cremated and no memorial service is to be held.

She was an avid outdoors person who loved dogs and enjoyed birding, hiking, canoeing and fishing. Teaching those around her to respect the environment and leave things better than were found was her mission. In Sheila sailed to Europe with her friend, Anne Howarth, touring the area on bicycle.

Scenes from that trip, and others, have been used as inspiration for her original Rug Hookings; a skill handed down to her from her mothers. A true artist, Sheila could dye her own wool, using natural ingredients such as berries. Most often she designed her own patterns, but she was also able to recreate masterpieces like her collection of hookings from the group of seven.
Sheila was also a talented athlete enjoying badminton, Tai Chi, curling, snowshoeing and skiing. Her favourite sport was golf, and like her father, hoisted a club championship trophy on more than one occasion. Through her friends at the golf course, she found her home in Uxbridge and forged new friendships with a special group of women. A memorial bench has been established for friends who have passed away so that they will always be a part of the fun.
A caring and compassionate soul, in Sheila became a co-founding director of the Markham Food Bank and served on its board for many years. She wanted not only to provide food for families but also to teach, especially to people new to Canada, about nutrition, preparation and storage of food.
